Rihanna NYFW inspired Makeup

So Rihanna stepped out at this year's New York Fashion Week at an afterparty rocking some fierce blue lips. It was such a cool-as-a-cucumber, edgy look that I knew I just had to do my spin on this. I personally love the blue lips and feel this makes the look unique, but if blue lips aren't your thing, they can easily be replaced with a vampy deep burgundy for a fall, or even a nude color.

Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams Makeup

Taylor Swift released a new music video called Wildest Dreams, which channels English Patient vibes - you know, the movie? Some people have criticised the video for apparently being racist - um, really? Wow, is there nothing else the world can get upset about than over a silly music video? Let's see, Syria, refugees situation all over the world, female genital mutilation...

Anyway I'm getting a little off topic here, but - her makeup was flawless. She definitely has that old-Hollywood glamor look down pat. Here's my recreation of the look, check out my full Youtube video below for the step-by-step tutorial!

Rihanna Bitch Give Me My Money Makeup Look

This look is inspired by Rihanna's music video for Bitch Give Me My Money, in which she wore some seriously bright red eye makeup and dark, gothic looking lips. Keep reading for the inspiration picture, video tutorial, and all the products I used!

Kim Kardashian Makeup Look

Recently Kim Kardashian has appeared in the press a lot due to her very controversial (and very photoshopped) Paper Magazine nude cover and photoshoot. I, however, think she looked so much better and more refined at a recent product launch party in London.

I really enjoyed the makeup look she wore here, so I though I would recreate it!

Nicki Minaj "Anaconda" Music Video Makeup

Nicki Minaj's latest music video offers plenty of juicy booty shaking, but also a fabulously beautiful makeup look on our lead protagonist. Nicki's face was very contoured and highlighted bringing out her bone structure, her eyes were a super sultry bronze and gold, and her lips were a rich pink. Although my coloring is so very different from Nicki's, I wanted to do my take on the look.

Katy Perry "This Is How We Do" Makeup Look

Shortly after Katy Perry released her new music video for "This Is How We do", I had many requests from my lovely viewers to show how to achieve her catchy look. It featured a dramatic grey cut-crease, and a double eyeliner look using black and hot pink. Her cheeks were a bright pink and also her lips. This look just screams POP to me and is so fun. f you don't feel quite brave enough to do neon pink on the eyes and lips, just pick one or the other.

Rita Ora "Black Widow" Makeup

I had so many requests after my last post featuring Iggy Azalea's look to do Rita Ora's makeup also from the same music video - Black Widow. Here are some screenshots for reference.

Rita wore extremely dark and almost geometric black eyeliner, and and a nude-y pink lip. Honestly, I just knew this wasn't going to look good on me at all, or many people for that matter. The harsh black line really makes eyes look so much smaller, so I wanted to do a spin on this look but adjust it to flatter my features. That's so important about taking inspiration from fashion or celebrity looks - don't blindly follow every trend if it just doesn't work for you. Take inspiration and make it your own! So here's what I did...

Iggy Azalea "Black Widow" Makeup

Iggy Azalea is one of the hottest acts in pop music right now, she's been storming the charts and getting a lot of attention in the music business. I love the sometimes soft and sometimes bold makeup looks she wears, and the one from her recent Black Widow music video particularly caught my eye.

Here's my take on this look! It features striking cool-red lips (slightly overdrawn for maximum effect), and a very defined eye with peekaboo lashes on the outer corners.

Aishwarya Rai Cannes Filmes Festival Makeup

Beautiful Bollywood film actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked stunning at this year's Cannes Film Festival. It's sort of crazy to think she's 40 years old and still puts most of us to shame, haha! Girl seriously lucked out in the gene pool department. I do think women can be beautiful at any age, some people seem to think that once you hit 30, your days of being considered attractive are numbered. Luckily this isn't true at all!

Anyhow, here is what some people consider to be the most beautiful woman in the world. For those who don't know her, she's an über famous Bollywood film actress and mega star in India, and was also Miss World 1994. She's also a spokesperson for L'Oréal cosmetics.

I have to say I was really disappointed that years back she got a lot of flack for her red carpet appearances because she put on weight after having a child. People talked about her "letting herself go" and the like. It makes me so mad that as soon as a beautiful woman puts on a little weight, suddenly she's dropped like a hot potato and shunned for failing to live up to her former beauty queen standards. How dare she have a child and put on weight, get older and have her metabolism slow down? It's much harder to be thin and svelte at 35 than it is at 25.

But good for her for dropping a lot of weight at 40. It is so much harder at that age, so props to her. Probably the rich Indian cooking doesn't help, I'd have a hard time losing weight on that kind of cuisine, as yummy as it is!

Anyhow, here's my rendition of this stunning look:

Disney Maleficent Angelina Jolie inspired Makeup

So I admit I am not a die hard fan of Disney (as in I have to immediately see every new film they release), but the upcoming Maleficent movie definitely caught my eye! I think for one because Angelina Jolie stars as the leading villainess, and two, because it's so different from most Disney movies. Some movie critics think it will absolutely tank at the box office because it's "too scary" for most Disney fans, which actually makes me want to see it! The trailers look so beautiful, and they inspired me to come up with this Maleficent look.

Now, Angelina wears prosthetics on her face and I think the movie has been quite altered in post production to have a certain dark and almost cool toned feel to it, but I just went off the trailer and screenshots I've seen floating around the Internet. I also decided to give this look my own personal spin for a super gothic Maleficent rendition.

I'm wearing black feather wings in these pictures because in the trailer, it is revealed that Maleficent had a past where she was actually some sort of fairy, and her black wings were actually stolen from her. Exciting! I'm not crafty enough to make my own horns, sadly, so the wings will have to suffice.

Will you be seeing this movie when it comes out? Let me know in the comments!

Kim Kardashian Vogue Cover Makeup

Regardless of what you might think of Kim Kardashian's career, her antics, her looks...one thing can't be refuted: Her makeup on her recent controversial Vogue Covershoot was the bomb.com!!

  • What do you think of Kim and Kanye appearing on the cover of Vogue?? Do you think she "deserved" it? Did you like the cover, or will you be cancelling your subscription like Sarah Michelle Gellar?
    • My Thoughts: I honestly don't really care! It's completely irrelevant to my life who is on the cover of a fashion magazine. As long as people are interested in Kim and her life, she will be famous and probably gracing more magazine covers.

Above I've taken a screenshot of the accompanying video from the photoshoot that Vogue posted on their Youtube channel. I changed my eye color to match Kim's, so you can see how similar the look is. When I first saw pictures of Kim's look, I thought it was actually really, really dark. In truth it's more of a medium brown and bronzey smokey eye, with some gold highlighting.

This would be a really perfect bridal makeup if you're looking for something a bit more dramatic than just natural tones. I tried on my own wedding dress after filming this look, with my hair up like this and the jewelry, and I loved it! I might wear something like this on my own wedding day next February.

Want to get the look? Then watch my video tutorial below, see all the products I used, or directly on Youtube here.

Katy Perry Dark Horse Video Makeup

Have you seen the preview for Katie Perry's new music video - Dark Horse - yet? I don't think the entire video has been released yet but I took a screenshot below of the very end where you see Katy Perry channeling Cleopatra. Yes, I edited on the diamanté grillz, haha! But everything else is just the makeup...

Below you can see some unedited pictures of the look I recreated. Now of course the shape of the design on the eyes will vary from person to person, because no one's going to have the exact same eye shape as Katy Perry. But I think I came pretty close with my interpretation!

Rihanna Makeup Tutorial

Have you seen Rihanna's new music video that she collaborated on with Shakira? It's pretty sexy! Although, it does bother me that to be a successful pop singer nowadays, you have to wear almost no clothes, or none at all, in music videos, to get noticed. I don't listen to pop music anyways...but I digress!

Here's the look Rihanna was wearing in the video - very classic Riri but such a gorgeous look! I couldn't wait to recreate it.

Obviously this look will be quite different on my skin tone, but here's my interpretation. I love wearing bright, bold red lips, and this look is perfect for making the lips stand out. Even so, the eyes are also quite defined, you could even wear this with a nude or lighter color lipstick for a softer overall look.

Mila Kunis Makeup Tutorial

Mila Kunis' makeup is one of the my most highly requested looks, and I finally got around to filming it. Mila has very large, "bedroom" eyes, so that's the feature her makeup artists usually emphasize. Because her eyes are so large, she can really get away with wearing a lot of dark colors, and black eyeliner that rims her entire lid. On smaller eyes - like my own - this technique can often make them look smaller, so when I apply dark makeup, I often apply a light color on my waterline to offset that. In this instance, however, there was no way to do Mila Kunis' look justice without doing the intense black liner she almost always wears.

Here is my take on Mila Kunis' makeup. What do you think of it? Where would you wear this to? Let me know in the comments!

My makeup tutorial for this look, or watch it directly on Youtube.
