Illamasqua Spring/Summer 09 Editorial Look

This is the Illamasqua spring/summer 09 promo picture I used as inspiration for this look, using mostly Illamasqua products. I'm not sure if it turned out exactly like the picture, and since my own pictures turned out quite awful as I had less-than-ideal light conditions, I hope I somewhat did it justice! The colors in my video look a little bit different, although that might be the photography.

This is obviously a more artistic, extravagant, editorial type of look but if you like the colors, it can be toned down to be more wearable. Blush can be placed more traditionally on the apples of cheeks, the long eyelashes can be left off all together or substituted for something less dramatic, and you could also wear a very neutral lip color with it from Illamasqua. I hope you enjoy this video!

    Julia,
Your makeup look is different, but very unique too. You are one of the finest makeup artists on youtube. xx

  3. I love crazy editorial looks. Sometimes when I see an ad for an upscale clothing line all I see is the makeup.
Either that or the clothes are hideous.

Okay, so normally I love your looks. After I see something new and crazy that you've done, I end up hunting around for the stuff to do it myself, like your Cherry Blossom Geisha.

However, I'm not feeling this one. I'm not a fan of the original Illamasqua image that you recreated either. It just sort of looks to me like you (and the other model) got punched in the face and it's all bruised now. I would probably like it better if the colors were different and there was no way that it resembled bruised flesh.

  7. I was on board with this look on you until the eyelashes. Because you only did the corners to me it looks odd and out of place in comparison with the original.
